The European centre-right is convinced of the importance of reforms for creating competitive economies and achieving lasting growth. The discussion will concentrate on positive developments and challenges in conducting reforms, such as creating flexible labour markets and improving administrative structures. It will highlight policies that can serve as examples to others. The speakers will also address factors that give the European centre-right confidence for the upcoming elections at European and national levels. Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for Regional Policy will deliver a keynote, followed by a panel discussion with Alvaro Pereira, former Portuguese Minister for Economy and Labour, Gunnar Hökmark, MEP and Sidonia Jędrzejewska, MEP. Antonio López-Istúriz, Secretary General of the EPP and Secretary Treasurer of the CES will deliver the closing remarks to what we expect to be a lively debate. A collaborative publication of the CES and its member foundations, "From Reform to Growth: Managing the Economic Crisis in Europe" (2013), will provide a background to the debate.
