Teona Lavrelashvili

Dr. Teona Lavrelashvili is a policy professional specialising in EU affairs, with a decade of experience gained from her work in EU institutions, academia, and think tanks, including the European Commission’s DG NEAR, the European Parliament, KU Leuven, and the European Policy Centre.
Her areas of expertise and research interests include EU enlargement, demographic and social changes related to it, EU relations with the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership countries, as well as institutional questions and party politics.
Teona holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from KU Leuven, where she managed the academic project European Party Monitor and defended her dissertation on the role of European political parties in the EU enlargement process in 2022. She continues her academic engagement as a guest lecturer.
Actively involved in civic life, Teona serves as the president of the College of Europe Alumni Association and was a candidate for the Belgian Federal Parliament elections in 2024.
