Niklas Nováky
Dr Niklas Nováky, Ph.D., is a former Senior Research Officer at the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies, where he specialised in the EU’s foreign, security, and defence policy. He was also the Assistant Editor-in-Chief of the European View, the Martens Centre’s biannual policy journal. Dr Nováky is the author of the book European Union Military Operations: A Collective Action Perspective (Routledge 2018) and has also published numerous peer-reviewed academic articles on different aspects of EU defence cooperation and external relations in some of the most respected journals in the field such as European Security, European Foreign Affairs Review, Contemporary Security Policy, International Peacekeeping, and Global Affairs. His 2015 article ‘Why so Soft? The European Union in Ukraine’ in Contemporary Security Policy is one of the journal’s most read articles of all time. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Aberdeen, an MSc in Politics and Government in the European Union from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BA in Politics and International Relations from the University of Kent.
